The E Class has a special place among Mercedes-Benz cars. These are business class cars, luxurious and comfortable. Usually they are equipped with a sedan-type body. Only in the 1990s, the company unified the production of cars of this class – before that they came out as part of various series. This class corresponded to the models W120 (produced in 1953-1962), W110 (1961-1968), W114 and W115 (1968-1976), W123 (1975-1986). Model W124 (1984-1996) became a transitional link between the “old” business class and the “new” E-Class.
The release of the Mercedes E Class car began in 1993, when, with the participation of the AMG tuning studio, a new design of executive cars was developed and the letter E – Executivklasse – began to be used to designate them. At first, these were cars of the 124th series, namely the Mercedes Benz model W124. Since 1995, the 210th series (second generation) began, then the 211th from 2002 (third generation) and the 212th from 2009 (fourth generation). With the preparation and start of production of the 210th E-series, the Class finally took shape as a separate line of the Mercedes Benz brand. The 211th, 212th and 213th series were a direct development of this series. Since that time, E Class cars have come a long way in the development of technical and design solutions, but their idea and essence have not changed – they are worthy and comfortable cars, which are not ashamed to move a business person – a businessman or a leader.
Since 2016, the fifth generation of machines of this class has been produced – the 213th series.
The lineup of the fifth generation E class is represented by cars with various body types – in addition to the classic sedan, station wagons, coupes and convertibles are produced:
The dimensions of the bodies of different types are somewhat different. The body length of the base model is 4.935 m, width – 2.035 m, height – 1.46 m. The station wagon has a slightly longer body length, the coupe and convertible are slightly shorter. The SUV is taller than the base model.
These machines are equipped with both petrol (E200, E300e, E450) and diesel engines (E220d, E300d). Gasoline engines require AI-95 fuel. The characteristics of these engines are quite different. The power of the smallest of these engines, the E220d, is 194 hp, and the most powerful, the E450, is 367 hp.
The fifth generation machines are equipped with electronic control systems and advanced safety systems. The built-in on-board computer not only acts as a navigator and provides control over protection systems, but also allows you to adjust the sensitivity of control devices, and also provides assistance with maneuvering – when parking and driving in traffic jams.
