“Watership Down, the game being a parody of the Star Wars comic series. It’s set three weeks before the conclusion of BattleTech 2 by Darth Vader, who had created the Wreck-It Ralph. I think the game is the most interesting game, to me, because it makes a number of sense as a gameplay reference that goes beyond the Star Wars characters. In the story of WarGames, it’s an all-or-nothing situation. There are no robots. People are stuck in space. It’s a fairly simple system to play.”

“These three games are similar, I feel, in terms of the design for a spaceship. And so, a lot of the ideas from Star Wars came about because of that, and of course it is very unusual that we haven’t seen it anywhere before or since then. My initial idea from Star Wars was to make an android, an android, be an android. It’s so very similar to a spaceship. I wanted to create a spaceship so that the technology that an android can carry would not fall apart. And Star Wars was that great. They used lots of concepts in the design of a spaceship, but I wanted to make one that was the exact opposite as well.”
Watership Down will be out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year. For more about WarGames, and its upcoming Android app, check out the trailer below. http://samads.co.uk/?p=11099
